Hi, I’m Jamie Dun. I live in Perth and I work with garage doors. I’ve been doing this job since 2015 and I’ve helped people all over the city with repairs, replacements, and servicing. I’m proud to be part of Garage Door Guys Perth, a local business that’s built on trust, good work and showing up when we say we will.
I grew up here in Perth, in a quiet street where people waved to each other and lent a hand when something broke. My dad was the kind of expert who could fix anything and I was always watching him work in the shed. He taught me how to use tools, how to fix things the right way and how important it is to be fair and honest with people.
Even as a kid I liked figuring things out. I’d pull apart old bikes, toys or whatever I could find just to see how it all worked. I didn’t always get it back together perfectly but I always learned something. That curiosity stuck with me.
After school I worked a few different jobs in trades and maintenance. I learned a lot during those years but I didn’t feel like I’d found my thing until I fixed my first garage door. That was in 2015. A family’s roller door had jammed and they couldn’t get their car out. I got the door working again and they were so relieved. That’s when I realised this job wasn’t just about tools, it was about helping people get on with their day.
Since then I’ve worked on just about every garage door problem you can think of. Broken springs, snapped cables, noisy rollers, doors stuck halfway, I’ve seen the lot. I’m usually the one answering the phone, booking the job, loading up the van and heading out to fix the problem. It’s a hands on job and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
At Garage Door Guys Perth, we do things properly. We don’t cut corners, we don’t make promises we can’t keep and we don’t treat you like just another number. I take the time to explain what went wrong, what I’m doing to fix it and how to stop it happening again. I talk straight and I always aim to do the job right the first time.
These days I’ve built up a good name around Perth. Most of my work comes from word of mouth, happy customers telling their mates. That means a lot to me. It means people trust me to show up, do a good job and treat them fair. That’s what this business is all about.
When I’m not working I like to keep it simple. I enjoy time at home with the family, catching a bit of footy, helping the neighbours or firing up the barbecue. Life doesn’t have to be fancy. For me it’s about doing honest work, being proud of it and making sure people feel looked after.
